Ballet
Students can start ballet classes from 2 1/2 years of age. The pre-school ballet class is designed to develop the students mental and physical development whilst having fun. The class takes a structured approach from the onset and encourages students to progress by learning basic movement patterns and ballet steps whilst using fun props and imaginative stories. Students are encouraged to galop, skip, jump, walk on tip-toes, articulate the feet, demi-plié and so much more, it is amazing how much we get through in a lesson.
Pre-Primary - Grade 8
Once students reach school age they commence on a series of graded classes under the Royal Academy of Dance. The graded syllabi have been developed to co-inside with the students physical development and increase in difficulty with level.
'The RAD is one of the world’s most influential dance education organisations. Our exams set standards in classical ballet worldwide and we are a global leader in dance education and Continuing Professional Development for dance.'
Students that successfully pass Grades 6 - 8 will be eligible for UCAS points.
Intermediate Foundation
We offer an invite only Intermediate Foundation class at the school for students that show flair and aptitude. The Vocational Graded Syllabus develops the technique, music and performance skills of the older ballet student to an advanced level, preparing them for a dance or dance-related career.
Tap/Modern
We offer tap and modern classes at the school from 4 years + and follow the ISTD syllabi. The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is one of the world’s leading dance examination boards. Grades are structured according to age and capability.
Examinations
For many children, examinations are an added pressure and the enjoyment of their dance classes are enough. For others, the goal of an examination will provide an incentive to work harder and be awarded for their achievement.
The school offers the option to take Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Examinations and Class Awards. Exams are not compulsory and are only taken on the advice of the teacher. They help to measure progress and ensure a high standard is maintained throughout the school.
All pupils entered for RAD ballet examinations must attend two ballet lessons a week in the term leading up to their examination.
Tap and modern examinations with the ISTD are also offered.
